Configuring log analysis
Users can choose to configure the analysis engine(s) and symptom catalogs that they want to use for log analysis. By default the XPath Log Analyzer is the analysis engine that is chosen when running log analysis.
In order to create an analysis configuration follow the steps:
- Open the log view on the log file that you want to analyze, right click and choose Analyze Settings.... The Configure analysis engines dialog is displayed that allows you to create a log analysis configuration.
- On the Analysis engines tab select the analysis engines that you want to use for log analysis
- On the Symptom catalogs tab select the symptom catalogs that you want to use for log analysis. Note that the Symptom 0.1 Log Analyzer engine will use only symptom catalogs with a .trcdbxmi extension, that is Symptom V0.1 format catalogs, while
the XPath Log Analyzer engine will use catalogs with an .symptom extension, that is Symptom V2.0 format catalogs.
- Once configured, you can run the analysis on the selected log record by clicking Analyze Selected or click on Analyze All to analyze all the records of the log file.
Users can optionally use the Analyze Selection or Analyze All items in the context menu of a log record.
