Interface SQLSelectSourceStep

All Superinterfaces:
SQLBuildStep, SQLSelectBuildStep
All Known Subinterfaces:
SQLSelectFromStep, SQLSelectJoinedStep

public interface SQLSelectSourceStep extends SQLSelectBuildStep
A SELECT stage with a source clause and optional further clauses. Repeated FROM additions create comma-separated sources when there are no joins. If joins follow multiple FROM sources, the compiler combines those initial sources with CROSS JOIN and groups them as the left operand; subsequent joins associate left-to-right. Arbitrary explicit join-tree nesting is not supported.

  • Method Details

    • join

Starts an INNER JOIN that must receive a complete condition or comparison through ON before it can be completed. Joins following multiple FROM sources apply to their grouped CROSS JOIN expression.
      Parameters:
table - the schema table or table occurrence
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
    • join

      default SQLSelectJoinStep join(IDBTable.Provider provider)
Starts an INNER JOIN with the provider's table, resolved immediately.
      Parameters:
      provider - the table provider
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
      Throws:
NullPointerException - if the provider or its table is null

    • leftJoin

      SQLSelectJoinStep leftJoin(IDBTable table)
Starts a LEFT JOIN that must receive a complete condition or comparison through ON before it can be completed. Joins following multiple FROM sources apply to their grouped CROSS JOIN expression.
      Parameters:
table - the schema table or table occurrence
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
    • leftJoin

      default SQLSelectJoinStep leftJoin(IDBTable.Provider provider)
Starts a LEFT JOIN with the provider's table, resolved immediately.
      Parameters:
      provider - the table provider
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
      Throws:
NullPointerException - if the provider or its table is null
    • leftJoin

      SQLSelectJoinStep leftJoin(SQLTableRef table)
Starts a LEFT JOIN that must receive a complete condition or comparison through ON before it can be completed. Joins following multiple FROM sources apply to their grouped CROSS JOIN expression.
      Parameters:
table - the schema table or table occurrence
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
    • where

Supplies a complete reusable WHERE condition or begins a comparison. Complete conditions may be composed with explicit grouping; simple connector chains use SQL operator precedence.
      Parameters:
left - the left expression of a comparison
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
    • where

      SQLSelectWhereStep where(SQLCondition condition)
Supplies a complete reusable WHERE condition or begins a comparison. Complete conditions may be composed with explicit grouping; simple connector chains use SQL operator precedence.
      Parameters:
condition - the complete condition to add
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
    • groupBy

      SQLSelectGroupByStep groupBy(SQLExpression first, SQLExpression... others)
Adds the ordered expressions used to group the SELECT result.
      Parameters:
first - the first expression in the GROUP BY clause
others - additional grouping expressions appended in SQL order
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
    • orderBy

      SQLSelectOrderByStep orderBy(SQLOrderItem first, SQLOrderItem... others)
Starts an ORDER BY clause with the supplied items in order.
      Parameters:
first - the first ordering item in the ORDER BY clause
others - additional ordering items appended in SQL order
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
    • orderByDesc

      SQLSelectOrderByStep orderByDesc(SQLExpression expression)
Starts an ORDER BY clause with one descending expression.
      Parameters:
expression - the expression used by this clause
      Returns:
      the next valid fluent stage
