Integrated Agent Controller configuration

The Integrated Agent Controller may be configured via its preference page available in the TPTP Workbench.  To view the preference page, click on the menu Window -> Preferences...  Expand Agent Controller node in the left pane, and select Integrated Agent Controller to get the preference page of Integrated Agent Controller.

There are two tabs in the preference page: Setting and Environment.

Setting

The following configuration settings are available:

Enable:  By default, the Integrated Agent Controller is enabled.  However, it is possible to disable the Integrated Controller by unchecking this setting. In the case that a user wishes to use the local standalone RAC only, it may be useful to disable the Integrated Agent Controller to avoid possible confusion.

If the Integrated Agent Controller is disabled, the rest of the settings cannot be configured and will be greyed out.

Always Running:  By default the Integrated Agent Controller is transient.  It is started and terminated automatically as needed.  However, it is possible to keep the Integrated Agent Controller running all the time until the TPTP Workbench is closed.  Checking this setting in the preference page will just do that.  This is useful in the case that a user wishes to use the Integrated Agent Controller only and not the local standalone Agent Controller (original or new technology).

Enable logging:  By default, the logging service for the Integrated Agent Controller is not enabled.  Logging may be enabled by checking this setting in the preference page.  This is useful for Problem Determination.  The logging level may be selected by the drop down menu.   The log file tptp_iac.log can be found in the directory as specified in the Log directory under the Environment tab below.

Allow remote connections:  This is an experimental option that allows the Integrated Agent Controller to listen to a port just like the Agent Controller.  We do not expect that our users would use this option under normal operation of the Integrated Agent Controller.

Shared memory block size:  The default shared memory block size for data transfer is set at 16 MB.  We do not recommend that this block size be increased under normal operation since this will affect memory requirement of the workbench.

Environment

Java executable:  This is the Java executable used by the Integrated Agent Controller to launch an application (such as application to be profiled).  By default, it is the Java executable that is used to start the TPTP Workbench.  If desired, it can be changed to another Java executable.

System temporary directory (SYS_TEMP_DIR):  This environment variable is passed to the application launched by the Integrated Agent Controller.  If desired, it can be changed to a different directory.

Agent temporary directory (LOCAL_AGENT_TEMP_DIR):  This environment variable is passed to the application launched by the Integrated Agent Controller.  If desired, it can be changed to a different directory.

Log directory:  This is the directory where the log file will be stored.  By the default, it is the directory <workspace>/.metadata/.plugins/org.eclipse.hyades.execution. If desired, it can be changed to a different directory.
